At the Conrad Observatory a unique test site for infrasound measurements is run by the International Monitoring System (IMS) of the Comrehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).

For wind-noise reduction tests four different pipe-array elements in two different geometric configurations are available. All systems are in close proximity within an area free of vegetation facilitating comparative measurements at similar environmental conditions.

Two systems are rosettes with 18m and 36m diameter. Their geometrical centres are identical. The two other systems have an hexagonal geometry with an analogous set-up to the rosettes. Close to the two centres a two-dimensional wind-speed measurement system is established.
